Rescue

Rhino who survive the horrors of poaching require specialized veterinary assessment, treatment, and rehabilitation (if they recover) back into the wild. Most of the equipment required to achieve this is unavailable on day one and surgical techniques are still under development. Survivors are extremely traumatized due to a combination of facial injuries and internal organ and muscle damage. Many rescue efforts end tragically due to the magnitude of the trauma and the lack of expertise and equipment to deal with this brutality. It is not just adults that are affected, small rhino calves barely a few months old are orphaned regularly and need our care.
